Also what it says about sustainable agricultural practices is interesting. The researchers probably understand this, but I doubt the environmental groups that will latch on to this study do... Organic farming methods actually release far more aerosols into the air than conventional methods as organic farming tends to be highly reliant on the very destructive practice of tilling soil to keep pests and weeds under control, releasing lots of dust into the air. For that theory too you *may* be able to compare rainfall in forested areas subject to forest fires. Of course, if that's true then forest fires would be preventing rain through the aerosol effect of the smoke released provoking more forest fires... One more possible reason to why forest fires in most of BC tend to be naturally very large, burning whole mountains worth of trees at once. - -- http://petertodd.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFGxInY3bMhDbI9xWQRAiwFAKCjiC8LyDFt4JFqgGmcWOeUHwMqnwCeOphK czYyj6cYf5ZBLUFl5EMtLBw= =cj17 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
