There is no "driver install" step. As with some many thing on > Linux these days: "you plug it in, and it just works". Yup. I have specificly used FTDI-based devices, both simple usb->serial converters and FTDI chips built into things like PIC programmers and logic analyzers. The linux drivers don't give a hoot about serial numbers and the above problem is a non-issue. > Who would have thought there would be a day where installing a new > device in Linux would be LESS work and bother then Windows? I know! I've been using Linux for years now, Debian mainly, which never had that great a reputation for ease of use. The new Debian Etch release keeps on surprising me with how much stuff "just works" - -- http://petertodd.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFGxHyZ3bMhDbI9xWQRAjE3AKCR2Slq7R032k3XUCg/gG7rbIQ6wwCfWjWW Wwq4Q+4hBY3dNti/8SYQN2A= =sLI6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
