I would also recommend a drill stand like Dremel's 220-01 WorkStation or this one from Milescraft (which I have). To remove ridges or embossing from a flat plastic surface: 1. Put Dremel in stand with cylindrical grinding tool. Position workpiece under it. Place two thick plastic bags (conductive bags from electronic parts orders, e.g.) underneath workpiece. 2. Pull the stand's handle all the way down. 3. Slide Dremel down the stand's shaft so the tool rests directly on the workpiece, in an area that has no embossing. Clamp it there. 4. Release the stand's handle. 5. Remove one plastic bag. Now you can start up the Dremel and pull the handle all the way down to get it precisely down to the level you want, less the thickness of the removed plastic bag (for clearance). The plastic bag remaining protects the surface of the workpiece as you move it around on the drill stand's base. -- Timothy J.
