Maybe you should think different. A big fig will have enough fruits
for you and for the family. A small fig will grow up and will be
someday bigger.
Depending of what birds are eating the fruits, build a house for them,
put it away from the fig and check the house for having always inside
some seed.
Then the birds will eat the seed you've put it there and not the figs.
In the mean time, by watching them you'll know exactly the scientific
name of those birds.
