The very low cost of basic processing power and the difficulties 
liable to be experienced with long pairs suggest that a processor near 
the sensor and digital interface are liable to be much easier to get 
going reliably, and may end up being cheaper than running a sensor at 
a large distance. The cheapest possible processor with a sigma-delta 
converter would do both the measurement and telemetry job. If 
necessary you could easily enough both power this and recover data 
using a single pair of wires.
