Nick - One thing to be aware of in using these controllers is that their control voltage is isolated. It is generated on their board and cannot normally be connected to your system ground. I ended up using some little relays to change the polarity (direction) and some opto-isolators to control the speed. Of course the relays and optos were run from the PIC. If you need more specifics, contact me off-list and I will dig up the actual circuits we used.
