I think he meant that behind your original question "Has anyone created a software SPI?" is your real question, whatever this is. That it has been created is easily verifiable by any number of means. There is possibly some other doubt behind it, and getting the answer for the question you asked could prompt you (or not... depends on you :) to realize that you didn't ask about what you wanted to know and ask a more specific question about the actual problem.
