That said, what I have heard of BGA sockets is: avoid if at all possible. They can be very finicky to work with. I've heard that you can only put a few chips in before they stop working. Of course, these are with chips with many hundreds of balls and at very high speeds, if these problems exist at the low end I'm not sure.
