Hi all, I will value all opinions on this subject. Firstly, I regularly read the PIClist, but as yet not really contributed. Well now is the time for some opinions. At work we have developed some technology, and for this discussion I will just say, consists of FPGA's and DSP's for signal processing. I do have to be careful as contracts and agreements have been signed. Hope you understand, the situation. The high end decision boffons, have decided to upgrade to the Analog Device Blackfin DSP. This has been done, PCB's designed and code written. All good so far. We are located in Australia. We were told of a delivery by September this year, from the distributor over here. Now today we were told a revised time in next year Q1, undefined date. Changing DSP's to something else isn't on the table as an option, for this project. I have been assigned the task of finding ways to speed this up, and to investigate the bottle neck, or what the problem is. I have a background in electronics as a senior technician, and haven't had problems sourcing parts at quantities in the past. This project is talking in quantities of 500,000 of the Blackfin DSP, over a 2year period. Maybe higher. Straight away, however, we ordered 1000 units, in about April this Year. Is it possible to bypass the distributor or are there other ways to go? I value your input and opinions.
