At last the truth about Global Warming in 5 short 
sentences

Either wade through the top part below & be educated [tm] or cut to 
the chase at the end (not recommended)

Just had a friend send me two links to material which purported to 
debunk the pro Global Warming (GW) arguments and demonstrate the 
fallacies in Gore's video presentation. While I'm certain that much of 
what such debunkers (and eg Gore) say is true, I'm also certain that 
much of what they all say (certainly including Gore) is false, and 
they don't care and are totally unamenable to reason, for whatever 
reasons.

As I'm the only person around who actually understands what's 
happening with GW [[[VVVBG]]] I thought I'd share with you the reply I 
sent to my friend, so that you too may be enlightened on the subject.

Do note that the jury IS still out on the whole subject and if you 
become wedded to any extreme or even fixed view you run a great risk 
of losing scientific and/or personal integrity.

What I do think personally is that the dangers of what MAY be 
happening are so vast that, regardless of whether they are or aren't 
in fact happening, and regardless of whether we are or aren't 
significantly contributing and whether or not we can or can't actually 
do anything about what may or may not be happening, we should be doing 
as much as we can to find out all about the subject AND in the interim 
should be making an extreme effort to cost effectively take the best 
evasive action that we can find to do. It may be that the efforts are 
pointless or impotent, but if we could have done something and should 
have done something and failed to act then we will be very very very 
sorry indeed. If the efforts were necessary but impotent then we will 
at least have a warm fuzzy feeling and our children's children (should 
they survive) won't hate us quite so much.

Along the way we can expect to be (and are) beset by hordes who see 
this as one more opportunity to (some or all of) make a quick buck, be 
famous, feel good or give other people a hard time. Some of them will 
also be genuinely sincere and interested in the outcome but many 
won't. Most will be wrong, will (try to) twist "science" to their will 
and will be sure that the other guys are all a pack of wally's. (Sorry 
Wally).

The truth about Global Warming:

Regardless of what ANYONE may tell you to the contrary:

  It may or may not be happening and we cannot yet say either way with 
adequate certainty.

  We may or may not be having a significant influence on what may or 
may not be happening and we cannot yet say either way with adequate 
certainty.

  We may or may not be able to do anything about what may or may not 
be happening.

  It makes sense to do as much as we can while finding out as much as 
we can so we then will know if we can or should do anything.

  Be very wary of the politicians, oil men, carpet baggers, 
politicians, vested interest groups, oil men, lobbyists, politicians, 
kooks, oil men, oil, men*, politicians, politicians, and PC prats.



* "oil men" may or may not include any woman who has had a supertanker 
named after her.
