List, I have been working on a LiPo battery charger and I have noticed that sometimes, when changing from constant current to constant voltage mode, the pack will draw more current than the constant current setpoint when the charger applies the proper constant voltage. For example..... say a 2C pack charging at 2.2A (2200 mAHr rated).... ...in constant current mode, apply 2.2A until pack voltage reaches 8.4 volts. Then switch to constant voltage mode and apply 8.4V. Pack may then be drawing 2.4-2.5 amps. The constant current mode is terminating at too low a voltage; it is within a few mV of 8.4V when it terminates.. A few seconds elapse between the switch from constant current to constant voltage. Do you think this may be typical? Would you expect this on a routine basis?
