I've just been playing with a serial bootloader I've adapted for the 18F1320 
and my Prolific USB->Serial cable I got off Ebay for a fiver works perfectly 
as well.

The only problem I had was that it was identified as a Motorola mobile phone 
due to some dodgy old drivers that were still on the machine. After ripping 
the heart out of a load of .inf files I managed to convince it it wasn't a 
phone and everyone lived happily ever after :-D
