SATA I is 1.5 gigabit per second (150 megabyte per second) from drive to controller. SATA II is 3.0 gigabit per second (300 megabyte per second). > The ATA133 was working good enough. Basic SATA are close to that. Basic SATA I should be faster than ATA/100 or ATA/133. Maybe the motherboard has a bottleneck between the internal SATA controller and the system and/or memory bus.
