Iron, Steel... Rust.

Basically it gives the idea that it USED to be the manufacturing belt.
I'm sitting across the street from where several steel mills used to
be here in pittsburgh. You'd never guess it today by looking at it..
But the names are still there.. I drive home across "hot metal bridge"

There's also the "bible belt"

Where the two intersect, "the rusty-bible belt" :)
