Classic example of what happens when "drive by wire" gets confused. Speaking to the woman who was driving the car after the accident the revs suddenly shot up as she was trying to park the car up the kerb and wouldnt go back down. The car did the same thing the week before and she'd taken it into a dealer who couldn't find any problem. I was walking down the street to collect the kiddie from school when I heard the car revving at maximum revs then the crash. It was only a year and a half later when I was driving a new Jetta (saloon version of the car that crashed) when I blipped the throttle and the revs went to maximum and stayed there. Thank goodness for clutches !!!
