>What if we already have a server running RedHat, and >just put another server right next to it, I am always wary of people that do this for backup. Site diversity please - what happens if a fire rips through the place and burns out both servers. Seen it happen - one of our customers was a paint company. late Friday afternoon one of the engineers gets a call to them because their backup tape drive is playing up. he was humming and harring about going to the call (it was real late in the afternoon) but he grabbed some spares, and fixed it. The did their backup, and that night a fire ripped through the place. We were able to retrieve the tapes from the fire safe, and had them up and running on a machine in our workshop for Monday morning. It was a good few years ago, but both our company and Chubb, who supplied the fire safe, got a lot of advertising out of that one. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
