If you're using Firefox or Mozilla, there's the "TinyUrl Creator" add-on. Quite handy: right-click on a page, select "Create TinyUrl for this page" and you're done (with the URL in the clipboard). A second choice solution is to enclose the URL in <> brackets. This is then interpreted correctly as one long URL by many readers, and remains clickable (or not broken) even if it is longer than a line.
