Whoever wins race 3 wins the cup - with only exception in the past 100+ years*. So ... Delayed start. I ended up sleeping on a mattress in the lounge with a timer to wake me occasionally to see if the start was imminent. Very very messy and quite light wind. Choppy conditions from very strong overnight storm. Vast amounts of skill. Several bad mistakes on both sides. Lead swapped several times during race, which is very rare. This will go down in history as one of the great races of the America's Cup. But ultimately, the outcome was pure luck, clothed in skill and mistakes. But, you can't knock it. After all, we won :-) Team NZ 2 Alinghi 1 Russell * There is no REALLY good reason why this is so, but several reasons why it may have some possible significant correlation in some cases.
