Hi Zik: The VSWR caused by 72 Ohms vs 50 Ohms is not an issue. The things that may be are RF hot spots and antenna pattern. A possible solution to both may be to connect the ground side to a ground plane made on both wings. Then make a 1/4 wave antenna along the fuselage toward the tail. Instead of making the ground plane lines at right angles to the antenna, slope them toward the front (away from the antenna). This way you can better match to 50 Ohms. Think of a 1/4 wave whip with ground plane whips below it sloped down at the ends. There is a null off the ends of a dipole so whenever you are looking at the end of a wing, that's where the null would be. If you do use a dipole just don't make it in a straight line, but bend it a little to fill in the nulls. -- Have Fun, Brooke Clarke http://www.PRC68.com http://www.precisionclock.com -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
