This is a classic, which just goes to show that you can't tell the pronunciation of one word by reference to another which is spelled similarly - it's a 
tough thought though - but enough! :-)

It comes from pinching words from most other languages, so spelling and pronunciation - and even meaning - of words which appear similar may have 
very different origins.

Now I need to go out and sas up some wood (as in Arkansas :-)
