All, I remember back in the 60's, Mr. Wizard came to our town and recruited a few people from my school to appear on his TV show. One of my classmates made it to the show. I was a standby alternate. I never got to appear though because all of the chosen participants showed up. But it still was quite a thrill to even be considered for the Mr. Wizard program. I also remember that we were the school heroes for a few weeks after that. It sure brings back memories. Thanks Mr. Wizard for the honor of meeting and knowing you. Subject: Re: [OT] RIP Mr Wizard Jim, I'm of the newer generation that watched him in the 80's. There were two inspiring shows that I remember: the light pen, where he had a computer that he could use to 'draw' on the monitor; and an episode about vacuum, demonstrating that there is a maximum limit that something could draw... first from the neighbourhood boy's lungs (didn't go very far), then to a vacuum pump, which made it further, but still hit a limit. He will be missed. I'm thinking about buying the DVD set for my nephews who are getting to be the right age for the shows.
