Thanks Rikard and Colin. I should have added that I am new to PIC, but not new to electronics nor to programming (though I don't consider myself a programmer). To give you some idea, the first computer I learned about was in a military electrical engineering course and used a whopping 1k of magnetic core memory, if I remember correctly. Set 8 switches and press "load"; repeat for each instruction. Hit RUN and watch the lights (not even LEDs). Storage was punched paper tape. That was in 1969 and I was young.
