I've been playing with a server I bought a few months back. Its an old 1Ghz Dual P3 thing with a very nice Raid 5 Ultra scsi raid array etc. Anyhow, I've just installed software - got it all lovely and playing with VNC etc on it when I thought I'd do a reboot and the Net raid 4m card in it comes up with a FATAL ERROR - its onboard battery has decided (after being powered up for a couple of days) that it is dead. I didn't know the Raid card had a battery on it. I haven't checked to see what the battery is yet but this is certainly old enough to be obsolete and any new old stock is probably knackered too Its part number is HP D9161-60002 according to http://www.saveateagle.com/b-4025.html its simply 2x1.2v nicads (actually it might be 4 I haven't split the plastic yet.) . Can anyone in Aus/NZ recommend a supplier of matching retangular 1.2v nicads with solder tags. It'd be nice to rebuild this battery so it fits nicely back into position. Obviously a couple of solder tagged std 1.2v nicads would do but I'd prefer to fix it properly. I've looked on RSWWW.com (RS Components) and I can't find this shape - although I have seen them before (in cybikos) Isnt it great - As soon as I have the problem - I noticed the little sticker that says - pull blue jumper when storing card for any longer than 14days to preserve battery !. Shouting at the inanimate object that I didn't know it had a battery doesn't help really. Needless to say - these cards are not worth a great deal (although my server is worth even less without it working, so it'd be good if the batteries aren't too expensive.
