Well, for one, it's a VERY old idea, IIRC Tesla spent much of his time
working on it.

Absolutely, it's a pretty neat spin on the idea. Off hand, as is usual
when "new" stuff appears I can't really see any obviously "amazing"
applications, but I'm certain as they refine their technique this sort
of thing will be used in the most incredible ways.
