While I never minded lying to companies to get free samples from companies when I was a student, I always felt a bit guilty when they ended up paying many times the cost of the chip to ship me a massive databook with it. (Not that companies seem to be very efficient about shipping chips weighing less than an ounce by first class mail, anyway.
