Hi Thilo:

If you mean an input switch in general I've found that hardware debounce is 
noticeably faster than software debounce.  So an advantage of a non mechanical 
switch is you don't have bounce.

When using hardware debounce (maybe a couple of resistors and a couple of caps) 
if the firmware is designed with fast response in mind it's amazing the 
responsiveness of the switch.
