Yes, you're right! I've seen vortex tubes in action, although heard might be a better word. "Doh" may be uttered, but unlikely to be noticed over the dim. Perfect for outdoor living though, cool your beer at one end, fry the sausages at the other. Most people when mentioning Maxwells demon (i.e. Keelynet folk) see it more like osmosis. See, it separates things without using any energy. Magic! Just like the vortex tube, if you ignore the compressor (and you need a big one).
