I imagine that you are aware of the Wiebelrohr (sp?) aka vortex tube 
aka Hilsche tube aka ... which I MUST make a working one of some year 
soon. This is a real world implementation of the precise demon that 
Maxwell was talking about and he would have uttered Homer Simpson like 
noises (aka DOH!!!) had anyone pointed out the retrospectively obvious 
concept at the time he was demonising it.

I also reckon I can stage them, which is said to be "impossible" but 
that's another story.
