I think this is exactly it. In many cases, you need a certain dose of both
-- which cannot be expressed in which is more important, because both are
necessary. 

Then there is the thing that even with a "theory dominates" job, it's
usually the experience that tells you which theory to use and how to employ
it -- and with a "100% experience" job, it's probably more often than not a
dose of theory that lets you make good use of the experience :)
