I think we were discussing the absolute intelligence of watching the sport
rather than the relative intelligence compared to that of the general
population. The general population still thinks the 9/11 hijakers were Iraqi
and that cars are safe and airplanes are dangerous. Neither of those is true
(and very provably so) and sports are provably popular and, in my option,
great to do yourself and stupid to watch... unless you are a female looking
for a prospective mate.
