Policy is to cover up the ISBN barcode with the library barcode; it helps prevent the desk workers from scanning the wrong thing. The books I was working with didn't seem to have a barcode except for the one on the back cover or dust-jacket. Must be a real PITA if it ever falls out of the system and you need to put it back in. ("real" libraries need a unique barcode per book, rather than a barcode per title, to cover the very common "multiple copies of the same book" issue.)
