Actually, USB - I2S converters (as an I-C) are available off the shelf and ready for direct PnP operation (under windows). The problem that I am having is that I can not find an off the shelf (and PnP) 24-bit @ 192Khz solution. I have recently discovered the limiting factor to be the ageing *"USB*Device Class Definition for *Audio* Devices v1.0", and hope that a revision of the current standard is imminent. I think that I will stick with a lesser solution for now. If I design the USB-I2S circuit on a daughter board, I can swap e'm out later. Till then; viva la S/PDIF! Thanks anyway guys!
