Not wishing to get too political but.... I wonder about the vast amounts of electricity required to smelt aluminium from bauxite. In NZ, the Tiwai Point smelter uses almost 1/6th of the country's power generation (and at a very good rate too, a "sweetheart deal", meaning the rest of us are probably subsidising it, therefore indirectly paying for that aluminium already).
