The last time I tried using a normal web cam with the IR-block filter 
removed, it did not do so well.  Low ohmage meter works better for me.

While doing the IR experiment (to see remote controller LED), I also 
made my first bad purchase on the ebay on an IR sunglass that claimed to 
let one sees IR.  Beware of this item as it had a money-back warranty 
which is useless when you factor in the shipping fees.
