They will send and receive data, but with no error checking. To eliminate noise and spurious readings you really need encoder/decoder chips as well. Maplin has these: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=35636&&source=14&doy=18m5 but they're quite pricey and there are a series of them that are much cheaper - their part numbers start with "HT12" and end with a letter that varies with the particular function (encode/decode, and different address/data splits). Rapid sell them: http://www.rapidonline.com/products.aspx?tier1=Electronic+Components&tier2=Integrated+Circuits&tier3=Remote+%26+Comms - the top-left two icons, if their search engine is that repeatable!). You can get an HT12E / HT12F pair for about an eighth of the price of the ones Maplin have. > My meter is one of these: > > http://www.btinternet.com/~jon00/images/meter.gif > > (1000 flashes per KWh) Ah, I shouldn't bother with this project - the meter reading hasn't changed for days, so it must be stuck and you're not getting charged! :-))) Cheers, Howard Winter St.Albans, Herts -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
