Thanks for the help everyone, I found one possibly easy way to do it: http://www.electronics123.net/amazon/datasheet/C328-7640.pdf Only uses 60mA operating and 100uA in standby mode, looks just right, I'd be keen to hear if anyone has had experience interfacing this to a PIC Microcontroller.
