A lot of people know you and you know me so a lot of people will know me too. A so-called network of trust. If a site trusts you and puts a link in to your page(s) (positive or negative) then you are better 'known'. Yet it is a better scheme than a 'democratic' search that goes by relevant word count alone (like htdig, glimpse etc).
