it'd do the job but its a bit physically big if you get it in DIP and the only other package you can get it in is TQFP which is a bit extreme in the other direction ;)

the 28 pin 2620 has as much ram and flash as the 4620 and its dip package is a lot smaller (mainly because its a skinny dip while the 4620 is a full width dip). Since i doubt this project really needs the exta IO it would be a better choice.
