So I purchased materials to do life casting of my kid's hands for Mother's day - alginate (3 minute molding compound) and Hydrostone (a very hard, white plaster). I'm hoping to pull three pieces from each mold, so I can give a set to mother and both grandmothers. I'm planning on doing the whole hand in a 1/2 gallon milk carton, so there's room for a fist, or splayed fingers, or cupped hand, etc up to the wrist. What would you suggest as far as what hand positions would be cutest/comical/interesting/etc? Also, if you haven't done life casting yet, it's very surreal to have your hand appear in plaster. I did a test yesterday with just my finger and I can't quite describe the experience - it's as though my brain recognized it on a completely different level than I was expecting. I suppose there is something more to the saying, "I know it like the back of my hand" I put a screw in it backwards to I can use it as a hook in a wall somewhere... :-) For the curious, I purchased my materials from http://www.fxsupply.com . You can search for "life casting" to find more information on the process and various aspects of it. So - any suggestions for poses? -Adam -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Moving in southeast Michigan?
