Here in NA the protocols AND connectors, along with connector location are all standardized, so if you get a code reader that supports the 4 protocols (ISO, CAN, Ford and GM) it will work in any card sold here. So assuming that at least the protocols are standardized over there, you just need to find a code reader that covers the 4 protocols with the right connector for your car. Here you can get code readers for less the $100 very easily, if you wait for a sale even less. I have an Equus one (at least I think that's what it's called). I also use a ScanGaugeII (http://www.scangauge.com/) a wonderful piece of kit that also gives you live information.
