Others have already suggested using ssh (best idea) but if you're looking towards email I'd suggest encrypting the email with some- thing like pgp/gpg. That way you know it's more secure, I'd also sign the email so that you know it's from who you expect it to be. You could then use procmail to filter the email and send it to another program to handle the gpg/pgp and conditional logic. I had something simple that did this with just a simple password. It was more of an experiment to see what and how I could do it.
