That way the message from your client to your home email server would be encrypted during transport. Then it could be as simple as a CRON that checks the message contents every 5 minutes or whatever and parses it. Or on the Linux box at home set up something like OpenVPN to encrypt tunnels between your machine. It even has a Windows client (I've never tried the client on Vista though). I personally have some web cams and relays all networked throughout the house that I use while out of town that are all automated. When I leave town for work/vacation I start the script. The web cams record motion at the doors and windows and the relays do thing like turn on lights and the stereo. I did think ahead a little and randomize the on-times for the lights and stereo. They get turned on at a random time during a 45 minute time frame. And not all the same lights the same days. Took a little while to program it all out, but I feel it was well worth it. And if I want to tweak some stuff or watch the cams and look around for myself I VPN in to do so. Just a thought. -- http://www.piclist.com PIC/SX FAQ & list archive View/change your membership options at http://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/piclist
