What do you mean by "automated tasks over email" exctly? Do you want to
securely trigger a task via a special email message? Or have one machine
trigger another machine automatically through email?

For parsing look into procmail, you can setup a special email account
where any message going to it matching certain parameters, like subject
line and what not, will automatically be sent to the standard input of a
specified program.
