>Based on what I've read on a couple of gaming forums, it's not just about >"dual link" -- I need a card with a dual-link DVI-D (DVI-I won't work). That is wrong! Dual link DVI-I is quite common. >Although I couldn't really figure out what the difference was between the >"D" and the "I", besides the fact that the latter also has analog pins. That is all. DVI-A is analog only (never seen one) > Does "D" have higher bandwidth? No. The bandwidth is determined by the number of digital channels (links). >The connector in my video card looks like a DVI-I (Dual Link): > >http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fb/DVI_Connector_Types.svg Don't assume anything from what pins are populated! The female connector will always have all pins so it can accept any DVI cable. Make sure the video cable you are using is dual link. Don't assume all the pins of the cable are actually wired - check it with a multimeter. >By the way, the card is a GeForce 7900 GS. The 7900 is capable of dual link, but that does not mean the specific video card you have is capable.
