I was looking at this one last week, and almost sampled it.  The key 
issue for me is still that they're not FCC certified like the XBee is 
(and probably can't be - though those new FCC regs seem to be moving in 
that direction).

But for a high-volume application where you've got the institutional 
resources to do certification, this looks like a good way to go.

I wonder whether Microchip will ever do an all-in-one, certified module 
containing transceiver + antenna + ICSP-programmable PIC...
