The original Mac was the system that introduced the computing community to "long shank torx driver", for instance. Add "cutting edge" technology that only sometimes catches on with the rest of the world (SCSI disks, ADB keyboards, USB (at the time is was introduced), firewire, special trays for disks, non-support of third-party DVD burners, ADC.) The current high-end macs open easily and have some significant "user upgradability" features, but consider also the iMacs and mac minis that ... don't. They're "user friendly" in general only for the class of users that they're particularly aimed at, and that's frequently NOT "nerd friendly." (Hmm. Rather similar to Dell in many respects...)
