I'm doing some similar stuff in Linux right now. Here's one to capture 
video (not sure if it does motion or not):

And then look at Zoneminder (http://www.zoneminder.com/). That one even 
has a whole ISO to install if you want everything to work right away 
with little config. That one is geared towards what you are asking to do.
