Yes, I'm in Pittsburgh. I work in Cheswick (about 10 minutes north of Pittsburgh on route 28), and live in North Hills (about 5 minutes north of Pittsburgh off I-279). I don't venture into the South Hills or the South Side much, but that seems to be where much of the cultural things go on. East Carson street in the South Side is where a lot of the smaller shops and bars are - if you like that sort of thing. You're also not far from Dahntahn (learn to pronounce it that way) and Station Square (Hard Rock Cafe, comedy club, etc). I don't really know of too much close by in the way of electronics/hobby/surplus in the area, but you'll probably find something in the South Side if anywhere. I do know of an Army Surplus store on route 51 - not too far from the South Side - but that's about it.
