I've recently bought two IP cameras: TrendNet TV-IP100 D-Link DCS-900 They both sell for $80, and seem to be based on the same exact hardware -- in fact, even some of the mechanical parts (stand, power supply, the lens piece) are identical. The firmware is also nearly identical (it was obviously made by the same people). Both cameras work fine, except that DCS-900 tends to not work in my office and a couple of other spots -- the picture starts to have "waves" slowly moving up across it. Same thing happens to the IP100, except it has an "Anti-Flicker" checkbox, which the DCS-900 lacks. I have a feeling that both units can run each other's firmware. I even had the crazy idea of downloading IP100 firmware, and trying it on the DCS-900 (it has a better form factor). Alas (or "luckily for me"), there's no firmware on TrendNet's website -- even though there is a utility for updating it. Does anyone know what the "flicker" is caused by? When I put my hand in front of the lens, the image gets brighter, and flicker disappears. It also works in another office just fine. The only difference is, my office has two types of light bulbs (different color temperatures), but the flicker happens in other places as well. At one point, I was going to buy the DCS-950, but read too many complaints about the buggy firmware.
