There's a page out there somewhere that describes a 16F84A (naturally!) based DMM, built into a RS probe body like that. Volts, ohms, frequency, capacitance, logic etc, but uses 7-seg displays. Called something like the 'parrot super scope', it's been a while. Google will turn it up eventually, or www.piclist.com would have a link. Don't Velleman have a 'scope based on a 10x10 LED array?
